Questions Within feat. Angela Gossow. Pierwsze wrażenie - jest ciekawiej niż w przypadku udziału Angeli w AE (którzy to przejadli mi się nieco ostatnimi czasy). Taki podział ilości riffów/solówek mi odpowiada. A i Pani Gossow coraz lepiej growluje. -

ARCH ENEMY unleash “The Root Of All Evil” in September
The big news in the ARCH ENEMY camp is that Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Testament, Exodus, etc.) has completed the mixing and mastering of the new ARCH ENEMY record, “The Root Of All Evil”. This special release features a selection of completely re-recorded songs from the first three ARCH ENEMY albums, “Black Earth”, “Stigmata” and “Burning Bridges”, and will be released via Century Media Records on September 28th in Europe and October 6th in North America.
Guitarist Michael Amott comments: “This one took some time to get done, despite the fact that the actual songs were already written a good few years ago! The album was recorded at a few different locations locally here in Sweden - produced by ARCH ENEMY, with Daniel Erlandsson (Drums) handling a lot of the engineering. It was then sent to Andy Sneap in England for the mixing/mastering and I simply can’t stop listening to this since I got the final mixes!”
In the light of ARCH ENEMY finding their defining line-up and a bigger worldwide recognition with 2002’s “Wages Of Sin” album, it has been a logical decision to look into updating and upgrading the earlier compositions, to be able to present them in the splendour of a 2009 shape.
Regarding further details of the process, Michael Amott adds: “We basically headed down to our rehearsal studio, got reacquainted with the tunes, picked out our favorites and proceeded to give a breath of new life to those early songs, with the idea to have the possibility to re-add them to the live set and follow up with some touring activity! I’m loving hearing these songs with a fresh new sound and performance, everyone in the band did a killer job on it - especially Angela’s vocal performance is astoundingly intense and brutal and it was also cool to hear Sharlee lay down some great bass tracks on the early songs! The production and mix is crushing and heavy as hell - it really makes these old songs shine – it sounds like a brand new thing!”.

On September 28th, 2009 Swedish Metal masters ARCH ENEMY will release their new studio album “The Root Of All Evil” in Europe. It contains a selection of completely re-recorded tracks from the band’s first three albums “Black Earth” (1996), “Stigmata” (1998) and “Burning Bridges” (1999) reenergized and upgraded by the band’s definitive line-up!

Guitarist Michael Amott comments: “So the time has arrived for a first taste of ‘The Root Of All Evil’! The song ‘Beast Of Man’ was originally written as a last minute addition to the ‘Stigmata’ album back in 1998. Daniel (Erlandsson) had just returned to the ARCH ENEMY drum throne and I wrote this one and another song called ‘Diva Satanica’ in a day or two. Christopher (Amott) had the cool harmonized mid section part and that was that, we went into the studio and rehearsed, recorded and mixed them in a marathon 24 hour session. It was OK at the time, but I always thought the songs deserved a little more love and attention.
The 2009 version of this song is really heads and shoulders above the original in my opinion. The song was always cool, but the production on the original was quite poor, more like a demo really. I am very pleased that we did this ‘Root Of All Evil’ project and that we can give these songs a “new life”… Enjoy the ‘Beast Of Man’!”

Przyznam, spodziewałem się "nowych" wałków nagrywanych ze starymi pomysłami/nagranymi w duchu trzech pierwszych albumów, a tymczasem będą starsze utwory dopasowane wg. aktualnego stylu grania AE.
Beast of Man prezentuje się całkiem całkiem, ale to nie to czego pierwotnie spodziewałem się czytając pierwsze info o nowym wydawnictwie. -

Unfortunately the Hunter Festival promoter - Mr Arek Michalski - never paid us the advance and left us high and dry with a couple of grand loss for the flights we had already paid for.
We didnt go there as we were pretty sure - after all his lies and fake bank statements - that we most certainly would be stuck in a bad situation there.. Epica and Tiamat pulled out for the same reason.
In retrospective we had to find out he did it to other bands too.. year after year… why is this guy still around and doing festivals???

Zwarte Cross - that was cold! A bit weird this festival, featuring all kinds of music and fans. Not a full on metal festival for sure. I saw a lot of people with big eyes and jaws dropping when we entered the stage. They were obviously new to Arch Enemy, haha.

It rained so badly that the van actually got stuck in deep mud. For a looooong while! Thus we had to suffer a short night and an early morning flight yet again. Love the early birds – not! And I had my first cold this summer – but that was a bad one with a nice, thick mucus cough.. Thought for a second about canceling Lorca Rock, Spain, but then pictured disappointed fans, angry press and severe financial loss and pulled myself together – armored with a box of Kleenex and the will to kill.
Lorca – just beautiful. Love the Spanish spirit. Joyful. So nice and warm. Caught an hour of sleep before the show, then we did our co-headline gig with Carcass. Bloody good show! Lots of interaction with the crowd, chanting, mosh pits and big smiles going on!
