well then you'll have a nice shock when you come here and stay for a while and start noticing that it's not like in the movies at all.
it will never stop amazing me how polish kids want to come here because they think it's like in the movies. and what amazes me even more.. you're not a kid, you're an adult!
hopefully one day you'll coem here and see that there's nothing special or amazing in this city, that people are dumb and it's filthy. unless you're super rich then you propably won't even see the real NYC.
by the way: why (in your opinion) should I be happy to be spending another summer in hot, humid NYC? what special attractions are there to make me exited?
what do you think you would be doing if you were here? -
goś.
i know the btw question isnt for me but i mean seriously imo this city is great. i dont know how my opinion would change if i would spend a long time there, but for now i think its extremely inspiring and fun. some people there are crazy and really interesting. so many amazing street performers, art everywhere. its somehow so different. and sooo full of life. personally i love it, but i can imagine it being annoying for others. -

Well you know I do not expect from my trip to U.S. to look like in movies. NYC is not kind of a place where i would like to stay pernamently or for a lot of time. But I've heard it's kinda hard to do all the sightseeing in NYC in 1 month. I'd like to stay in Cleveland, Ohio or somewhere in Texas or Indiana. But I'd like to meet some people up there. You know I'm not a typical European guy. Franklly I hate Europe and i don't like here at all. I know couple people from U.S. and they're really cool. It also doesn't bother me if these guys know something about the world or not. It's very hard for me to adapt here, but it's easy to adapt myself in the U.S. with all these cool people. I don't like Europe at all and I'm not happy to live in here but someday I'll maybe go to the U.S. and stay there for a pernament time. -

Well, I have nothing to say about USA, because I have never been there, although I hope I will some day. All the English-speaking countries fascinates me, especially UK with England at the spearhead. This year I'm gonna take a part in a camp in London. I'd like to improve my English :). -
Igor
I was in London. Very nice city but i hate british people. They're so self assured and arrogant. -
Mikej
I was in London too, but two years ago. True, center of London is beutiful...but just center. They are assured and arrogant ? When i was smiling to people, they smile me too :). They are not so bad -
Igor
I don't know, maybe something changed. I was there in 2005 and i remember that the oxford street. picadilly circus and tower were pretty much cool but I didn't like the people. Generally when i meet British people wherever i go they're very self-assured and arrogant. That's my point of view but the American peope, man I've never met so nice, chilled and funny people. -

Has anyone ever considered visiting Malta? It's very nice island with beautiful weather and picturesque landscapes. I'm thinking of going there this summer, but maybe... Maybe u know some friend or colleague from UK who needs a guitar teacher for 2 months of holidays? I could teach the beginners or semi advanced for (good) food and roof over my head :-P Would be grateful and appreciate any help. The true heavy metal regards for all of u :-P -

Now what exactly is the “polish kids” perception of America? And please explain; “like in the movies”. I doubt anyone expect to become a cop in the NYPD à la John McClane.
I think that what I saw in the American movies and television series (before I came to America) is pretty accurate to how I experience America as a country and the American people, both the good and the bad.
Everything from the simple humor and everyday-life of Seinfeld to the rich lifestyles of Entourage to the corner boys of The Wire selling crack for a dollar seventy five.
American movies are pretty accurate indeed.
The “it’s not like in the movies-card” is getting a bit worn-out.
Don't listen to d-meth, NYC is an amazing city in every season, with an open mind you can enjoy NYC without being rich. The whole city is one entire adventure! Calling 8 million people "dumb and filthy" is just a sign of ignorance and bitterness.
America is truly the country of opportunities, but you will have to work for it...hard...harder than in Europe. American is definitely not for everyone.
And the best of all with America: diversity. The affinity of some national communities, like the polish in my neighborhood is amazing.
Have a good summer!
